Amendments were made to the Federal Law “On the procedure for leaving the Russian Federation and entering the Russian Federation” № 114 of 15.08.1996 regarding visas for foreign workers performing installation work of technical equipment supplied to Russia, as well as participants in the state program to assist voluntary resettlement of compatriots:

  1. An ordinary work visa (single or double entry for up to 3 months) is issued to a foreign citizen – an employee of a foreign legal entity (manufacturer or supplier) performing installation (supervision) works, carrying out:

– service and warranty maintenance,

– post-warranty repair of technical equipment supplied to the Russian Federation.

The law will provide for the possibility of subsequent extension of such visa for a period not exceeding 90 days. (part 16 of article 25.6 of the Federal Law “On the procedure for leaving the Russian Federation and entering the Russian Federation” No. 114 of 15.08.1996 (as amended by the Federal Law of 21.04.2025 N 93-FZ).

Now such a visa is issued for a period of up to 90 days without the possibility of extension. Therefore, these changes will greatly facilitate the process of warranty service of equipment by foreign specialists for companies that engage such specialists.

  1. an ordinary private visa is issued for a period of up to 1 year to a foreign citizen who has received the status of a participant in the State Program to assist voluntary resettlement in the Russian Federation of compatriots living abroad, or the status of a family member of a participant in such a State Program, on the basis of the decision specified in subparagraph 4.3 of part one of Article 25 of this Federal Law, adopted by the territorial body of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, with subsequent extension of the validity of the visa for the period of granting this status. (part 5 of article 25.6, subparagraph 4.3 of part 1 of article 25 of the Federal Law “On the procedure for leaving the Russian Federation and entering the Russian Federation” No. 114 of 15.08.1996 (as amended by the Federal Law of 21.04.2025 N 93-FZ)).

These changes will take effect on June 01, 2025.
