On May 07, 2024 the Order of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia from 22.03.2024 N 5206 “On Approval of the form of the stamp confirming that a child under 14 years of age has Russian citizenship, the procedure for its affixing and annulment, as well as the record of documents required for its affixing” will come into force.
The Order establishes the form and the procedure for affixing and canceling the stamp confirming that a child under 14 years of age is a citizen of the Russian Federation.
The state bodies carrying out the above procedure are:
- Main Directorate for Migration Issues of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia;
- The Center for Migration Issues of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation;
- Migration units of the territorial body of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia at the regional or district level;
- diplomatic missions or consular offices of the Russian Federation.
These actions are carried out in pursuance of decisions on issues of Russian citizenship on the day of application by the child’s parent (adoptive parent), guardian, custodian, authorized representative of the guardianship and custody agency, head of the Russian organization for orphans and children left without parental care in which the child is placed under supervision.
The Russian citizenship of a child under 14 years of age is stamped:
- in the birth certificate or
- in a document issued by an authorized body of a foreign State to certify the child’s birth registration.
The certificate of citizenship of the Russian Federation is canceled:
- in the event of a decision to terminate the child’s citizenship of the Russian Federation, or
- If a decision is taken to terminate the child’s Russian citizenship or to establish the fact that the child does not have Russian citizenship.
