The Federation Council Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Nature Management proposes to postpone the date of entry into force of mandatory labeling of veterinary drugs to September 1, 2025, reports the Union of Zoobusiness Enterprises. Earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed to make labeling of animal drugs mandatory from the fall of 2024.

In January of this year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade submitted for discussion a draft government decree on the introduction of mandatory labeling of veterinary drugs; it was assumed that from September 1, 2024, mandatory registration of all participants in the circulation of veterinary drugs in the information labeling system would begin, and from October 1 – application of codes on products.

However, at the meeting of the Federation Council Committee it was noted that there are a number of unresolved issues. In particular, manufacturers need to purchase and debug equipment and software for labeling, hire and train additional staff.

It is also proposed to add manufacturers of veterinary drugs to the list of recipients of soft loans under the program “Implementation of the goods movement monitoring system”.
