EAEU–UAE Free Trade Agreement to Enter into Force on October 6

The Economic Partnership Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and the United Arab Emirates enters into force on October 6.

The deal eliminates or reduces import customs duties on the majority of goods exported from EAEU member states to the UAE. The covered categories include agricultural products such as grain, meat, and dairy, alongside metals, machinery, equipment, petroleum products, and chemical goods.

Under the new trade regime established by the Agreement, the UAE has granted preferential access to 86% of the product range, or 98% of the volume of EAEU exports to the UAE.

The concessions granted will enable exporters from EAEU member states to save at least $266 million annually in customs duties.

In terms of specific goods, preferential access will be provided for key agricultural products from EAEU countries, such as grains (wheat, barley, corn), meat (beef, lamb, offal), poultry, eggs, dried vegetables (chickpeas, peas, lentils, beans), vegetable oil, dairy products, confectionery, mineral water, jams, and chocolate.

In the industrial sector, concessions have been granted for the following categories of goods: a wide range of metallurgical products, petroleum products (including light and other distillates), forest products, pulp, printed materials, chemical industry products, and a wide range of mechanical equipment, from turbines to specific types of pumps.
