Starting from July 1, 2023, the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated April 20, 2023, No. 224-VII “Social Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan” came into effect. As a result, two laws have been invalidated:

  • The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated June 21, 2013, “On Pension Provision in the Republic of Kazakhstan”;
  • The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 26, 2019, “On Mandatory Social Insurance.”

Key changes include:

  • Obligations for payment of social contributions arise under civil law contracts;
  • The cap on sick leave increases from 15 MCI to 25 MCI;
  • The concept of a 4-day workweek is introduced.
